Anschutz Examines Further
Philip Anschutz expanded his Examiner.com citizen journalism empire with the purchase of Canada’s NowPublic for a reported $25 million Sept. 1.
The deal adds NowPublic’s network of volunteers who cover some 6,000 cities around the world to Examiner.com’s 110 metropolitan areas.
Both online news sites rely on content from paid and unpaid contributors. NowPublic will continue to operate separately, although Examiner.com will adopt some of its technology and may hire some of NowPublic’s unpaid contributors.
