The dismissal was unveiled via a slightly mysterious statement from the band, according to Alternative Press.

“To all our friends, family, and fans: We could like to let you know that we have let Craig Owens go as the singer of Chiodos. This decision was a necessary one. Out of respect for all the hard work that we have put in together for all of these years we will not be discussing the specific reasons that this needed to happen. We wish Craig well. We will absolutely be continuing on as a band and we will keep you informed as this next chapter unfolds.”

The band was kinder in its missive detailing the departure of Frost in May, writing, “We’ve got nothing but love for the guy, we just feel it is the right move at this time as a band. Don’t worry, there was no crazy drama or anything of the sort that needs everyone freaking out about. We are parting on good terms and are very thankful for the time and dedication the Derrick has given us and our fans over the past years.”

A little digging by AP revealed that there were clues to the impending departure for those paying attention, including a tweet from Owens revealing plans for a solo covers EP, and this cryptic message from keyboardist Bradley Bell, “You’ve become inconvenient.”

Chiodos just wrapped up a stint on the Vans Warped Tour and the remaining members are expected to hit the studio to begin recording a new album soon.
