Miley Loses Weight

The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Alabama won’t have to make $100,000 in upgrades to the facility’s arena for Miley Cyrus’ sold-out Oct. 23 concert date after all, thanks to some ingenuity from the parties involved.

Facility officials announced Oct. 1 that after working with the tour and AEG Live, engineers came up with a solution to accommodate the Disney star’s lighting and rigging needs at the 18,000-capacity arena at no extra cost.

“The news is the result of a lot of hard work on the part of the building and the tour,” BJCC Executive Director Jack Fields told the Birmingham News. “We are thrilled to have determined a solution that will ensure a safe event without diminishing the concert experience for our patrons.”

Those adjustments will reportedly now be used on the tour at venues similar to BJCC, the paper said.

AEG’s Debra Rathwell told Pollstar the adjustment involves a weight reduction.
