King Of Pop’s Museum Gig

More than 250 items representing Michael Jackson’s musical legacy go on display this week in London, including a Jackson 5 recording contract, the star’s trademark gloves and even his navy blue Rolls-Royce.

The exhibition is being held at the O2 Bubble, the two story exhibition hall at London’s O2 arena, which was to be the home of Jackson’s 50-show residency.

There are also a few items you wouldn’t expect, like the design and patent for the shoes he invented for a dance step shown in his “Smooth Criminal” video.

There’s also a Neverland room that includes exhibits detailing events that never happened, such as Jackson being knighted. Other Neverland room exhibits include Jackson dressed up in royal duds and a throne of red velvet and gold.

And yes, the exhibit is timed to coincide with the release of a posthumous album as well as the premiere of “This Is It” – the film made up of footage taken from Jackson’s dress rehearsals for the London residency.

The exhibit is scheduled to remain in London for three months before hitting the road. However, no details about the exhibit’s next stop have been forthcoming.

“What we have done here is try to illustrate through objects and film his musical legacy, which most people would agree is the most important and one of the most profound in the history of the 21st century,” said exhibit curator Robert Santelli.
