Huh? Slayer and ABBA In The Same Headline?

We couldn’t resist combining postings about ABBA’s new concert DVD and Slayer streaming its latest album for free, if only to see their names side by side.

Music video releases weren’t a standard practice back when ABBA was topping the charts. Which is why fans are excited about the band’s upcoming performance DVD.

It’s called “ABBA In Japan” and it drops Nov. 3. The DVD centers on the group’s 54-minute show taped for Japanese television in 1978 and featuring 14 songs plus a bonus track of the original mix of “If It Wasn’t For the Nights.”

The DVD also includes performances of ABBA hits “Take A Chance On Me,” “SOS,” “Dancing Queen” and “Waterloo.”

Plus, like any good concert DVD, “In Japan” also features plenty of extras, including two exclusive behind-the-scenes documentaries of ABBA’s Japan visit, including TV performances and press interviews.”

Up until now only two ABBA concert films have been released . “ABBA – The Movie” documented the group’s 1977 tour of Australia and “ABBA In Concert” shows the band during its 1979 tour of North America and Europe.

Slayer is streaming its new album – World Painted Blood – all weekend on MySpace.

The album’s official release is also Nov. 3, so you can pick it up when you purchase “ABBA In Japan.” Meanwhile, the band is giving fans a free listen now until it lands in stores.
