“The Wanda Sykes Show” is Fox’s replacement for the recently departed “MadTV” and premiered Saturday night against “Saturday Night Live.”

While the show got mixed reviews, various sources are reporting that the numbers were good when compared to “MadTV” ratings for this time of year.

Sykes’ show is a mix of monologue, jokes, a man-on-the-street segment and a “View” or “Chelsea Lately”-style panel discussion of current events with celebrity guests.

While many reviews and comments from viewers complained about the overall political tone of the show, they’ve obviously never seen Sykes do stand-up. To get an idea of what I’m talking about, check out “I’ma Be Me,” her latest HBO special which political, politically incorrect and freaking hilarious. Here’s hoping Wanda will find both the right formula and an audience for her new endeavor.

“Lopez Tonight” premieres tonight at 11 p.m. EST on cable network TBS and is cut from more traditional chat show cloth.

Musical guests lined up for premiere week of the show include Carlos Santana, Marc Anthony, Queen Latifah, Jay Sean and Birdman.

Lopez, who earns the distinction of being the first Latino to host a latenight show, jokingly told “Extra” co-anchor Mario Lopez the set was salvaged from NBC’s “ER,” which was taped on the same Warner Bros. backlot.

“They were gonna throw all this stuff away so we were like, let us have it!,” the comedian quipped.

He also filled Mario in on how he got President Obama to tape a promo for the show.

“Everybody says, ‘How did you get who ends up being the President of the United States to do a promo?’ I’m gonna tell you something I haven’t told anybody. I helped him get a birth certificate.”
