“The Peter Björn and John Birthday Tour” kicked off last weekend in Washington, D.C., and will end with a big blow out at L.A.’s Club Nokia on Nov. 21, the anniversary of the actual date of the group’s first rehearsal together.

The next chance to catch the trio, as well as opening act El Perro del Mar, is Nov. 11 at Toronto’s Phoenix Theatre.

Since every good party needs surprises and presents, PB&J have planned some special ones for their fans including special guests (dancers, singers, rappers, folkrock artists, jazz musicians, celebrities, stand-up comedians, magicians and more) at each show, rare old songs plus never-before heard songs and a specially designed light show.

Also on the agenda are a whistling contest in every city (with the winners joining the band onstage to perform the hit “Young Folks”), free tickets through the PB&J Twitter page and special free merch given away after shows.

If you’re on the fence about catching the band this time out, consider this: This will be their last tour before heading into the studio to work on a new album. If you can wait until 2011 to see PB&J live, more power to you. Everyone else will be singing “Happy Birthday” to one of Sweden’s favorite exports.
