A division of entertainment giant Viacom, MTV Networks announced the deal today, but did not disclose terms. However, the movie has made more than $222.6 million in worldwide release, so you can bet MTV paid plenty.

You can also expect “This Is It” to continue raking in the cash even after it finishes its limited run Thanksgiving Weekend. With DVD and pay-TV revenue yet to accumulate, the film will be making money long after its final movie house showing.

In fact, today’s announcement also mentioned the DVD, saying MTV will collaborate with Sony Pictures in marketing the film’s release on DVD in early 2010.

The deal covers all channels in the MTV family, including MTV, VH1, VH1 Classics and Palladia as well as Viacom’s BET Networks and new channel Centric.

“The film is a true testament to Michael’s musical genius, passion and commitment to his craft,” said MTV Networks Music Group President Van Toffler. “Michael Jackson has always been inextricably tied to our viewers as they witnessed his evolution from a talented performer to a global icon who redefined music. Now, with this film, we can help give his fans a chance to see his final performance.”
