Imposter Hawks Lil’ Wayne, Drake Shows

An alleged scam artist has reportedly been impersonating Cortez Bryant, manager of Lil’ Wayne and Drake, via a fake Twitter and e-mail account to solicit and pocket deposits for concerts by the rap stars.

According to a Nov. 13 statement released by Bryant Management, the imposter uses Bryant’s name on the fake but official-sounding accounts, “which he then utilizes to secure and pocket deposits for false bookings and club appearances.”

The statement also said the alleged imposter has targeted Atlanta, Denver, Minneapolis, Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Va., markets to offer appearances and shows by Drake, who is represented by International Creative Management.

Neither performer is currently on tour.

Examples of tweets used in the ruse include, “who wants to make some easy money hit me,” “promoters hit me if you want Drake or Wayne for a show” and “getting ready for tour this paperwork is crazy, who want to help hit me up,” according to MTV.

However, the alleged imposter’s Twitter account, twitter.com/Tezpoe, was listed Nov. 16 as “suspended due to strange activity.”

Bryant Management stated it is working with authorities to track down the culprit.
