Boyle’s ‘Dream’ Captivates U.K.

Last April Susan Boyle charmed the U.K. television audience with her remarkable voice and unassuming ways. Now she’s storming up the charts, breaking records and reminding fans why they fell in love with her in the first place.

The 48-year-old lady from Scotland with the incredible voice fascinated judges and viewers of television talent show “Britain’s Got Talent” earlier this year, winning over the judges as well as the TV audience with her beautiful rendition of “I Dreamed A Dream” from “Les Misérables.”

So, how has Boyle’s debut album – I Dreamed A Dream – doing?

Not too shabby. It has broken the U.K. record for the largest first-week sales of a debut album in history as well as the fastest selling album this year, according to the folks who track such things in the British Isles – the Official Charts Company.

“Everyone expected this to be a big record, but not as big as this,” said Martin Talbot, managing director of the Official Charts Company, who also said the Amazon presales in the U.S. were the company’s largest pre-order… ever!

And what does Boyle think about having the best-selling album in the U.K.?

“It’s fantastic,” the singer said in a statement released by her label.
