Underwood To ‘Play On Tour’

Carrie Underwood announced her 2010 “Play On Tour” plans today, scheduling 45 shows for March through May.

Underwood’s latest album – Play On – debuted at No. 1 on both country and pop album charts and sold more than 700,000 copies during its first five weeks on store shelves. The fourth-season “American Idol” winner has the distinction of being the only country act in Nielsen SoundScan history whose first three albums sold more than 300,000 copies during the first week of release.

Yes, life’s been good for Underwood since winning “American Idol” in 2005. So far the country star has won four Grammys, was named ACM Entertainer of the Year; picked up three CMAs and is the three-time reigning ACM Female Vocalist winner.

The “Play On Tour” begins in Reading, Pa., at the Sovereign Center March 11. Albany, N.Y. at the Times Union Center March 12 is the next stop followed by Providence at Dunkin Donuts Center March 13.

Other cities, venues and dates include Atlantic City at Boardwalk Hall March 19; Worcester, Mass., at DCU Center March 21; Wilkes Barre, Pa., at Wachovia Arena March 29; Indianapolis at Conseco Fieldhouse April 9; Toledo at Lucas County Arena April 24; New Orleans at Lakefront Arena May 7; Austin at Frank Erwin Center May 12; Fresno at Save Mart Center May 18 and Las Vegas at Orleans Arena May 22.

Last stop on the schedule is the Spokane Arena May 30. Special guests Craig Morgan and Sons of Sylvia appear on all dates.
