If you’re looking for a recap of 2009 that puts the year’s top songs in some historical perspective, you could do a lot worse than tuning in to Fuse’s “Top 40 of ’09: The Year in Music.”

For several weeks now, viewers have been casting votes for the top video of the year at Fuse.tv. Winners from the network’s bracket-style tournament will be featured in the show, which debuts Saturday at 4 p.m. EST, along with interviews, clips and a look at some of the headlines that shaped the musical landscape of 2009.

Artists in competition for the top spot include Britney Spears, Paramore, Lady Gaga, Kid Cudi, Jay-Z, Kelly Clarkson, Metallica, Papa Roach and many more.

Encore showings of the special will air December 15 at 7 p.m. EST and Dec. 31 from 12 p.m. EST until New Year’s Day.
