‘Tis The Season
Mexican Navy troops got more than they were looking for when they raided a house allegedly occupied by members of a drug cartel – Latin music star Ramon Ayala who was performing at a Christmas party at the residence.
The raid took place in the Mexican town of Tepoztlan and resulted in a shootout that killed three gunmen.
When the smoke cleared, the troops had detained Ayala as well as 11 other people found at the house. Ayala, an accordionist and norteno singer who lives in Hidalgo, Texas, and has won two Latin Grammys, was released after being questioned.
Cobain/Love Daughter Goes To Grandma’s House
Francis Bean Cobain, the 17-year-old daughter of Courtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain, has been placed in the care of the Nirvana frontman’s mother and sister.
According to a three-page court filing issued Friday, the girl was placed in a temporary guardianship of Kurt Cobain’s mother Wendy O’Connor and his sister, Kimberly Dawn Cobain.
The court order will remain in effect until February and does not grant either woman any control over a trust fund established by father Kurt.
An attorney representing the two women said it is a private matter and no further comment would be issued.
More On Banton’s Arrest
Working on information from a Tampa drug case, federal officers arrested Buju Banton in Miami Thursday and charged the reggae star with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine.
Now federal authorities say Banton attempted to buy cocaine from an undercover officer in Florida.
According to court documents, Banton and two others contacted a person who just happens to be a police informant about buying cocaine in the Sarasota area. DEA agents claim Banton not only negotiated the purchase but also was observed inspecting cocaine offered by the undercover officer.
