The Music Festival – Junior Edition

Although music festivals continue to gain popularity in the States, with the exception of Lollapalooza – which includes an awesome Kidzapalooza section – not many have made really serious attempts to tailor the experience for the youngest music fans. With the announcement of Pop-Con, featuring headliners Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, it appears concert promoter Live Nation wants to address that oversight.

The “all-day” pop culture experience for tweens” will take place Feb. 20 at Nassau coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y., on multiple stages.

Besides Bieber and Gomez (with her band The Scene), the kid-centric lineup includes Push Play, Care Bears on Fire, Nickelodeon’s Nat & Alex Wolff (aka The Naked Brothers Band), Mercy Mercedes and more. Additional acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Presale tickets are available now through ThePopCon.com, with general ticket sales beginning Dec. 19 at 10 a.m.

Target age for the event is 8 to 18 years old and at least one parent or guardian must accompany concertgoers.

In addition to music by some of the hottest acts on the tween scene, Pop-Con will feature gaming stations, product sampling and vendors and a culture mall (which will host independent fashion merchandise companies like Glamour Kills), plus programmed lectures, seminars and opportunities for aspiring young musical artists, actors and actresses to score advice from top pros in the music, movie, television and sports industries.
