Shreveport Goes National
The Municipal Auditorium of Shreveport, La., has been named a national historic landmark.
The 3,007-capacity venue was home to “The Louisiana Hayride” radio program from 1948 through 1960.
The program helped to break artists such as Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Jim Reeves and Kitty Wells. A formal ceremony marking the distinction was held Dec. 22.
