Wainwright will release All Days Are Nights: Songs for Lulu, which he calls “a collection of Rufus-penned piano and voice songs,” sometime next spring.

To mark the new project, the singer will hit the road for a two-week tour of the U.K. that kicks off April 13 at London’s Sadler’s Wells.

Prior to that, fans can catch Rufus at a string of one-off shows in the U.S. – including a New Year’s Eve gig at Eccles Center for the Performing Arts in Park City, Utah – as well as during a short swing through Australia and New Zealand that kicks off in late Februrary.

Wainwright’s opera, “Prima Donna,” which tells the story of “a day in the life of an aging opera singer” and debuted at the Manchester International Festival last summer to mixed reviews but was generally well received by the public, will premiere at London’s Sadler Wells in April and at the Luminato Festival in Toronto in June.

Blackoutsabbath, which the singer conceived in 2008 as a way to encourage his fans to become more environmentally conscious, will take place again in 2010 on a yet to be named day during the summer, when participants will be asked to unplug “from the grid” as much as possible to help decrease energy demands.

Tickets for Wainwright’s April U.K. tour are on sale now and specific dates for “Prima Donna” will be announced in the coming weeks.
