Allman Brothers Still Peakin’, But Not At The Beacon

Some traditions are meant to go on forever. Like carving pumpkins for Halloween, watching fireworks on the Fourth of July and seeing The Allman Brothers Band during the group’s annual residency in New York City.

But it’s going to be a bit different this time around, as the band moves uptown to play at United Palace.

The band’s usual haunt for its NYC residencies – the Beacon Theatre – was unavailable because of a scheduling conflict.  Cirque Du Soleil’s “Banana Shpeel” is at the venue Feb. through May.

The band announced the dates – March 11-13, 15-16 and 18-20, adding that 2010 will be a year of “limited touring” to give band members time to work on other projects.

While the amount of concert dates won’t equal past years, the band is already scheduled to play a few important festivals in 2010, including hosting the Wanee Festival in Live Oak, Fla., April 16 & 17, and playing the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival during the weekend of April 23-25.

Tickets for The Allman Brothers’ annual New York City run go on sale Jan. 15. For more information, please click here for the band’s Web site.
