Carole King, James Taylor Get ‘Intimate And In The Round’

We figured it was only a matter of time before this tour got the full coast-to-coast treatment it deserves. Now you can see Carole King and James Taylor as the musical dynamic duo slots May and June dates for their “Troubadour Reunion” tour in the U.S.A.

Originally announced last November as a tour of Australia and Japan, the tour begins May 7 in Portland, Ore., at the Rose Garden Arena, although that date may change due to sports playoffs.

Other stops include Seattle at the KeyArena May 9; San Jose at the HP Pavilion May 11; Glendale (Phoenix) at the Jobing.com Arena May 19; Nashville at the Sommet Center May 22; Auburn Hills (Detroit) at the Palace of Auburn Hills May 27; Sunrise (Fort Lauderdale) at the BankAtlantic Center June 5; Washington, D.C., at the Verizon Center June 8 and New York City at Madison Square Garden June 15. Last stop is Boston at TD Garden June 19.

Like the Portland date, D.C. and New York City may also change due to playoffs. Previously announced dates include May 13-15 in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl.

Today’s announcement also states “more dates to be announced” – so there’s still hope if your town isn’t on the schedule.

If you’re thinking the “Troubadour Reunion” tour name has something to do with the famed West Hollywood nightclub, then you’d be batting 1,000. The tour was put together after King and Taylor appeared in six sold-out shows at the Troubadour in 2007 as part of the club’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Backing King and Taylor on the tour are guitarist Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar, drummer Russ Kunkel and bassist Lee Sklar as “The Section,” which also includes Rudy Guess, Robbie Kondor, Arnold McCuller, Kate Markowitz and Andrea Zonn.

Tickets go on sale Jan. 23. For more information, click here for James Taylor’s dot-com residence and here for Carole King’s Web site.
