Checker ‘Twists’ With Medicare
Chubby Checker knows how to get a crowd moving and the Social Security Commission is banking he can do the same while getting the word out about Medicare revisions.
Checker, 68, is the spokesman for a supplemental program reported to have a “twist” in that it offers low-income senior citizens age 65 and up nearly $4,000 in prescription drug benefits previously not available because of income and asset restrictions. The program went into effect Jan. 1.
The Grammy-winner helped kick off an ad campaign Jan. 8 in New York City, which includes television, radio and Internet spots.
“Listen up, America! For 50 years, people of all ages and backgrounds have danced the Twist,” Checker said in a statement. “Now it’s important everyone learn about this new twist in the law. Check it out at www.socialsecurity.gov.”
