Leon Russell Recovering

Leon Russell is recovering from surgery, according to a statement.

Sources told the Tulsa World Russell was hospitalized in California for a brain fluid leak and treatment for heart failure and pneumonia.

“Leon is recovering after successful surgery on Monday [Jan. 11] to relieve a chronic condition,” his Web site stated. “He is expected to be released from the hospital in a few days.

Leon is looking forward to beginning studio recording sessions during the last half of this month through February with Elton John, Bernie Taupin and T-Bone Burnett.

He and his band will resume touring at the beginning of March.”
