Moriarty Lands At Eventbrite

Former Ticketmaster chief Sean Moriarty, who left that company March 30, is back and he’s landed on the board of directors at Eventbrite, an event management and social commerce firm.

Moriarty will serve as a key strategic adviser, according to the company, “contributing his acute operating expertise and knowledge of the events industry to further enhance Eventbrite’s ability to enable unparalleled success for its customers.”

Eventbrite offers organizers platforms to manage, promote and sell out events and other tools including promotions, ticket sales and registrations, according to a statement.

“Eventbrite is a pioneer in social commerce and they’ve built a simple and elegant platform that allows anyone to be an effective manager and marketer of a huge variety of events,” Moriarty said. “The Eventbrite team is extremely bright, capable, and passionate about serving their customers, and such a combination of platform and people bodes very well for Eventbrite’s future success.”

Moriarty served as CEO of Ticketmaster from 2007-09. Irving Azoff succeeded him after TM acquired Front Line Management. He is currently an entrepreneur in residents at Mayfield Fund, a venture capital firm based in California’s Silicon Valley.

His decision to join the Eventbrite board brings some gravitas to the company, a fact not lost on CEO and co-founder Kevin Hartz.

“Sean is a true innovator and brought this spirit to Ticketmaster as a technologist, operator and hands-on executor. We are thrilled to have him join our strategic team,” Hartz said. “Sean’s decision to come on board is huge validation for our vision and is a turning point for the company.”
