Old Rock House Renewed
Industry vet Tim Weber, former GM and talent buyer at Mississippi Nights, is back in the biz as a partner and talent buyer at
Weber told Pollstar the new venture is the opportunity he’d been looking for since Mississippi Nights closed two years ago.
“I really missed the music business quite a bit and was looking for an opportunity to get back in,” Weber said. “Rich Frame, owner of Mississippi Nights, and I looked at quite a few locations for a new Mississippi Nights but the right situation just never presented itself.”
However, conversations with Old Rock owner Dan Schmitt about his vision for the club – to make Old Rock a proper concert venue – found the businessmen on the same page and the partnership was formed.
Since then the 450-capacity club, opened in 2007, has been upgraded with a state-of-the-art sound, light and video system to accommodate a wide range of national and local touring acts. A concert-friendly restaurant menu is also in the works.
“Our mission is to present live music in the most creative, comfortable, exciting and meaningful way in the entire country,” Weber said. “We are going to focus on the performance as a whole, from the perspective of both the artist and the customer.”
Concerts on the books through early April include Todd Snider, The Fiery Furnaces, Sondre Lerche, Evan Dando, the Radiators, Chris Duarte & Bluestone, John Lee Hooker Jr. and Backyard Tire Fire.
