The 10-Day Benefit Single

A benefit single in 10 days? Surely you’re joking, Mr. Cowell.

Never mind he doesn’t know who will sing on it, or for that matter what will be sung, but music mastermind and professional talent judge Simon Cowell says he’ll have a Haiti benefit single in the can within 10 days.

Cowell said he was asked by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown to help out with the relief effort for Haiti’s earthquake victims.

Now all he has to do is line up a few big names.

“I don’t know who’s available, but I will get a record out within seven to 10 days,” Cowell said, adding that the British government may pass on collecting tax revenues on the yet-to-be-recorded song so relief efforts can receive as much money as possible.

Even though Cowell isn’t naming names, various media reports suggest he may turn to those stars he helped make famous through reality shows such as “X Factor” and “Britain’s Got Talent,” including Susan Boyle and Leona Lewis. “X Factor” judge and Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole is also a possibility.
