Sommet To Stay

The downtown Nashville sports arena will continue to be known as the Sommet (soh-MAYE’) Center for now.

Officials on Monday announced that a dispute over the naming rights of the arena has been resolved, though the NHL’s Nashville Predators will be free to pursue a new naming rights partner.

Late last year the team accused the Sommet company of failing to pay for the rights.

Sommet, which handles human resources administration, has owned the naming rights for three years. Before that, the facility was the Nashville Arena and then the Gaylord Entertainment Center.

The arena is also used for basketball tourneys, concerts, the Country Music Association awards show, circuses and other events.
