The documentary and live album are both set for release March 16. Fans can preorder “Under Great White Northern Lights” and the live album in a limited edition box set through the band’s Web site.

“Under Great White Northern Lights” was filmed during the band’s 2007 Canadian tour as the duo trekked across the country, performing in every province and territory. The tour kicked off June 24 in Burnaby, British Columbia, and concluded July 16 in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The band played traditional venues like the 21,500-capacity Bell Centre in Montreal and the 16,000-capacity Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto, but The White Stripes also stopped off at random locations for spontaneous mini-shows.

The impromptu gigs included matinee performances on a Winnipeg city bus, on the back of a boat at a harbor in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, at a Toronto summer kids day camp and at a bowling alley.

“Under Great White Northern Lights” was directed by Emmett Malloy, who previously worked with the band on a number of music videos.

The documentary incorporates both the band’s live shows as well as a behind the scenes look at the Canadian tour’s off-stage happenings.

The live album features 16 songs recorded at gigs throughout the tour. The track listing includes: “Let’s Shake Hands,” “Black Math,” “Little Ghost,” “Blue Orchid,” “The Union Forever,” “Ball and Biscuit,” “Icky Thump,” “I’m Slowly Turning Into You,” “Jolene,” “300 MPH Torrential Outpour Blues,” “We Are Going to Be Friends,” “I Just Don’t Know What to Do With Myself,” ‘Prickly Thorn, But Sweetly Worn,” “Fell In Love With a Girl,” “When I Hear My Name” and “Seven Nation Army.”

The limited edition box set includes the documentary and live album on both vinyl and CD as well as a DVD of the Stripes’ 10th Anniversary show “The White Stripes Under Nova Scotian Lights,” a 7 inch vinyl featuring live versions of “Icky Thump” and “The Wheels On The Bus,”a 208-page hardcover photography book and an exclusive silk-screened print.
