Neil Young Filmmaker Dies

Larry “L.A.” Johnson, a filmmaker who worked closely with Neil Young for 40 years, died of unknown causes Jan. 21 at his Redwood City, Calif., home.

Johnson, 62, was involved in Young’s various film and multimedia projects from 1974’s “Journey Through The Past” through last year’s “Neil Young: Archives: Vol. 1.”

He also was involved in video production and fundraising for Young’s annual Bridge School benefit concerts in Northern California, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Johnson was also nominated for an Oscar for his editing work in the famous 1970 documentary, “Woodstock,” where he met Young.
