Drugs Killed Jay Reatard

Punk rocker Jay Reatard died from “cocaine toxicity, and … alcohol was a contributing factor in his death,” a Shelby County medical examiner announced Feb. 3.

The 29-year-old Reatard, born Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., was found dead at his home near Memphis Jan. 13.

Police originally said they were investigating the possibility of a homicide but noted it is standard operating procedure.
