Viva Los Van Van

Cuban band Los Van Van made its return to Miami Jan. 31, more than a decade after it was met with eggs and batteries, thrown by protesters who associated the band with Cuba’s communist government.

This time around, 350 to 400 protesters stood outside the James L. Knight Center but there were no such problems with the 4,000 who went to the show.

At one point, the audience even shouted, “Cuba! Cuba! I’m going with Los Van Van!” according to the Miami Herald.
