It would be remiss of me to neglect discussing what many are calling THE commercial of Super Bowl XLIV. Well, technically it’s a promo for a show and not really a commercial, but I’ll bet it’s been discussed by someone you know several times today.

In case you missed it, David Letterman stole the wind out of the sails of all the companies that spent millions of dollars for a few minutes of airtime with this simple clip.

A million questions come to mind, not the least of which is how and why Letterman, who hasn’t been shy about his feelings regarding the Leno/O’Brien mess and his earlier encounters with the once-and-future King of “The Tonight Show,” ended up with a commercial with him. (Although the simple answer is probably because it was flat out hilarious.)

Speaking of show stoppers, be sure to tune in to E! Entertainment tonight at 11 p.m. EST for “Chelsea Lately.” Chelsea’s special guest tonight is none other than the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne.

Handler tweeted about the appearance earlier today, saying, “Ozzy is on the show tonight for an interview. Luckily, he speaks more clearly than Chuy.”
Should be a very interesting conversation.

And finally, remember those rumors from Page Six of the New York Post about Howard Stern’s possible future gig? Well it turns out they may not have been just “Idol” chatter. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

Stern told listeners on his Sirius satellite radio show today that he is indeed considering filling the chair that will soon be vacated by Simon Cowell. And he used the word “seriously.”

“There’s not a better job on the planet than judging that … karaoke contest,” Stern said.

Stay tuned.
