X Japan At Lollapalooza?

Though drummer-leader Yoshiki lives in Los Angeles and the group recently filmed a series of music videos in the city, X Japan has never played a full-fledged concert in the United States.

However, while he was attending the Grammy ceremony recently, Yoshiki told the Japanese press that the band would play the main stage at this year’s Lollapalooza festival, which will take place Aug. 6-8 in Chicago.

X Japan will thus be the first Japanese artist to ever perform on the festival’s main stage. The appearance has yet to be confirmed officially, and already Internet rumors have spread that X Japan will be Lollapalooza’s headliner, though X Japan representatives have said that is not true.

Many of the band’s Asian fans have already said they plan to fly to Chicago for the big event.

X Japan reformed two years ago with big schemes to conquer the world, but due to repeated setbacks they have yet to play outside of Asia.
