Australian Music Market Up 4.8%
For the first time in six years, the Australian recorded music market showed growth over an entire year.
In figures released by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), the market showed a 4.8 percent increase in wholesale revenue to A$446.1 million (US$387 million) in 2009.
Much of this was fueled by more Australians embracing digital sales.
The digital sector jumped 46 percent to $79.2 million.
Digital albums now make up 7.5 percent of all album sales, compared with 4.35 percent the year before.
