Gallagher Nixes Toronto Travel Plans

Turns out former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher won’t travel to Toronto next month to witness the sentencing of the man who attacked him during a 2008 concert in the Canadian city.

Oasis was performing at the 2008 V Fest when a man ran onstage and shoved the older Gallagher brother, knocking him to the stage floor, breaking three ribs.

The shover’s name is Daniel Sullivan, who was eventually convicted of assault causing bodily harm. Sullivan was to be sentenced earlier this month, according to news service Canadian Press, but that was delayed after Gallagher said he wanted to deliver a victim impact statement in person.

But that was then. Now Gallagher’s schedule apparently won’t permit a jaunt to Toronto. Instead, he will provide a written statement to be read at next month’s sentencing.

Gallagher is currently scheduled to perform at the Teenage Cancer Trust Benefit show series at London’s Albert Hall March 25 & 26.

Carrie Underwood’s ‘Play On Tour’ Keeps On Playing

Already booked pretty solidly from March through May, Carrie Underwood keeps the party going by adding June dates to her “Play On Tour.”

The new dates are June 3 in Nampa, Idaho, at the Idaho Center; June 3 in Broomfield, Colo., at 1STBANK Center; June 4 in Colorado Springs at the World Arena; June 12 in Birmingham, Ala., at BJCC Arena; June 13 in Lexington, Ky., at Rupp Arena; June 15 in Springfield, Mo., at JQH Arena; June 17 in Fargo, N.D., at the Fargodome, June 18 in Winnipeg at MTS Centre and June 20 in Saskatoon at Credit Union Centre.

Although Saskatoon is now being touted as the tour’s last date, the country star is scheduled to appear at Milwaukee’s Summerfest 14 days later on July 4.

Megadeth Welcomes Ellefson Back

Megadeth fans will recognize a familiar face onstage when the band hits the road next month – the band’s original bassist, David Ellefson.

Megadeth returns to the road March 1 in Spokane, Wash., as the band kicks off a tour scheduled to honor the 20th anniversary of its Rust In Peace album by playing the classic metal release in its entirety.

Ellefson’s original tenure with Megadeth began with the band’s founding in 1983 and continued up until 2002 when the group dissolved after guitarist / vocalist Dave Mustaine experienced an arm injury preventing him from playing guitar. Mustaine resurrected Megadeth two years later, but business disagreements between him and Ellefson kept the bass player from participating. Ellefson later sued Mustaine over royalties, but lost.

But that’s all metaphoric water under the proverbial bridge.

“This shows the power of brotherly love and forgiveness,” Mustaine said. “David Ellefson belongs in Megadeth. Next we are going to show you the power of getting your asses kicked… hard!”

Of course, one bass player rejoining the band means someone is leaving. That would be James LoMenzo, who joined the band in 2006.

“We’d like to thank James LoMenzo for several years of loyal service on the bass, and wish him the very best,” Mustaine said.
