Because of the cancellation, the Bombers are suing the promoter. Team attorney Bob Sokalski told CBC News it was a “breach” and the demand for compensation was not fulfilled. He added that it was up to the promoter to have event cancellation insurance.
“We are doing our best to iron out the differences between all the parties concerned. It falls to us as the promoter to do our best to iron out those differences,” Keystone President Bryan Taylor told Pollstar in a statement. “I have not seen any statement of claim nor have I been served with a statement of claim from Winnipeg Stadium.”
Taylor declined to elaborate beyond the statement.
The claim is for staff that was hired and for the costs of preparing the stadium, but the lawsuit also includes claims for revenue the team would have received through concessions, parking and commissions, according to CBC News.
Approximately 10,000 tickets reportedly had been sold for the concert.
