Get Lucky With Mark Knopfler

The Dire Straits guitarist put out a new solo album last year and you can hear it when he hits the road this spring.

The album – Get Lucky – was released in September to critical acclaim. In support of the effort, Knopfler embarks on a month-long tour of the U.S. and Canada beginning April 8 in Seattle at the Moore Theatre.

Other stops include Portland at Keller Auditorium April 10; Oakland at the Paramount Theatre April 14; Los Angeles at the Pantages Theatre April 16-17; Denver at Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre April 20; Chicago at the Chicago Theatre April 23; Toronto at Massey Hall April 29; Montreal at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier April 30 and Boston at the Orpheum Theatre May 4.

Last show for North America is May 9 in Albany, N.Y., at the Palace Theatre, and then he’s off to the U.K. and Europe.

Get Lucky is Knopfler’s sixth studio album and was recorded at the guitarist’s British Grove Studios in West London. The New York Times remarked that the album “radiates wariness and maturity as well as poise,” while USA Today called it “a beauty, full of ripe, haunting melodies and gently vital, folky arrangements that showcase his robust and lyrical guitar work.”

In other words, Get Lucky is pure Knopfler. For more information on the album and tour, click here for the artist’s Web site.
