Prudential’s New Neighbor

Newark, N.J., officials announced Feb. 4 a plan to build a 150-room Courtyard By Marriott hotel next door to the 18,000-capacity Prudential Center.

The project, the first new hotel in the city in nearly 40 years, is expected to break ground later this year with the goal of completion by 2012, according to the Star Ledger.

The arena, home to the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, could also become home to the NBA’s New Jersey Nets if negotiations go as planned, according to the New York Daily News.
