Block In Brothers Case
The owners of a popular bar on the campus of University of Wisconsin-Madison faced a setback recently in their case to keep from getting condemned so that the university can build a music performance building.
Eric Fortner and his brother, who own Brothers Bar & Grill, have taken legal action against the school, which is using the power of eminent domain to condemn the bar.
The $43 million to $51 million replacement would contain two concert halls, according to the Wisconsin State Journal, and the Fortners question that it will be built.
At the heart of the matter is an anonymous donor who will contribute $15 million. The bar owners want his name to be made public in an effort to bolster their case that there is no guarantee the performance hall will be built. Dane County Circuit Court Judge Paul Anderson thought otherwise, keeping the donor anonymous.
The trial is set for April.
