Lonesome Larry Passes
Legendary Evansville, Ind., concert promoter Larry Aiken, 69, died Feb. 13 following a lengthy illness.
His Aiken Management was a major force in the Midwest during the ’70s and ’80s before morphing into one of the largest touring Broadway show producers in the country. Aiken retired in 1999 when he sold his company to Chicago’s Jam Theatricals.
Aiken first became a local celebrity as a disk jockey named Lonesome Larry, which acted as his springboard into the world of promotion. In his later years, he was a Democratic Party activist and philanthropist.
