Teglas isn’t a total stranger to Pennywise fans. The Ignite vocalist performed with the band at the 2009  Cypress Hill Smokeout festival in San Bernardino as well as the Amnesty International benefit concert in Long Beach.

Pennywise’s former lead singer, Jim Lindberg, left the band in August in a split that could be described as “amicable,” with each side wishing the best of luck for the other. At the time Lindberg was reported to be working on a documentary based on his book “Punk Rock Dad,” and was working as a consultant for the music and sports Video On Demand outlet he founded called Havoc TV.

“What started out as a temporary position was just too good to put an end to,” Pennywise bassist Randy Bradbury said. “Zoli brings to the table a tremendous vocal ability, creativity, and a die hard work ethic. There is a bond that makes this change feel like it was simply meant to be, and considering the recent unfortunate events, having Zoli join the band is a well needed shot of positive energy.”

By filling its lead singer vacancy, Pennywise is now all set to hit the road. The band is currently in the studio but will venture forth for a short string of West Coast dates in March, beginning on St. Patrick’s Day at San Diego’s House Of Blues March 17. The band then travels up the coast to Ventura for a show at the Majestic Ventura Theatre March 18. March 19 is Chico, Calif., at the Senator Theatre and March 20 brings the band to Reno for a show at the Grand Sierra Theatre.

The band begins its Euro adventure April 24 in Meerhout, Belgium, at the Groezrock Festival. For more information, click here for the band’s MySpace page.
