Mellencamp For Senator?

John Mellencamp is the recipient of an online campaign to get the roots rocker to become a U.S. senator.

Three separate Facebook groups have been established, the largest of which has more than 2,000 members, to draft the Indiana musician to run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh.

Mellencamp spokesman Bob Merlis said the musician “had no statement to offer.”
