McCartney ‘Up And Coming’ Tour Taking Shape

The two dates on Macca’s are March 28 in Glendale, Ariz., at the Jobing.com Arena and March 30 in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl.

McCartney and the Hollywood Bowl have a history together going back to the 1960s when The Beatles played the venue in 1964 and ’65. McCartney last played the Bowl in 1993.

McCartney’s fans probably aren’t all that used to such a quick turnaround by their idol. Instead of taking one, two or even five years off between U.S. tours, McCartney is returning to the U.S. after playing this side of the pond just last year in a run of shows that included appearing at Coachella as well as stopping at New York City’s Ed Sullivan Theater for an outdoor performance and a “Late Show” appearance with David Letterman.

Of course, McCartney also has a history with the Ed Sullivan Theater, which was the home of the long-running CBS program, “The Ed Sullivan Show,” and hosted The Beatles’ 1964 U.S. television debut.  Originally called CBS-TV Studio 50, it didn’t take on the “Ed Sullivan Theater” name until 1968.

American Express and fan club pre-sales for both dates begin tomorrow at 10 a.m. local time. The public onsale for Los Angeles is set for Feb. 28 while Glendale goes up March 1. For more info, click here for Paul McCartney’s Web site.
