J-Lo Leaves Sony

Jennifer Lopez and Sony Music have ended their longtime relationship, but it’s debatable whether it’s a controversial matter.

Sources told Deadline Hollywood the split was motivated by tepid sales from her last album’s lead single, “Louboutins” and Sony Music execs “aren’t sure who her audience is anymore.”

Others contended the split was amicable and, after Lopez and hubby Marc Anthony met with Epic Records CEO Rob Stringer in the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles during Grammy week, the parties hugged as they decided to end the relationship.

Whatever the case, it’s likely, as Deadline pointed out, that Lopez’s target audience is no longer the youthful crowd that is gravitating toward Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.
