Other dates yet to be announced will be for shows in New York, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, Portland, Seattle and Washington, D.C., as well as Canada towns Montreal and Toronto. Other North American cities will also be added to the tour as will dates for the U.K. and Europe in the coming weeks.

What can fans expect? Reworkings of classic Police songs like “Roxanne,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” and “Every Breath You Take,” and selections from Sting’s own solo career, including “Englishman in New York,” “Russians” and “If I Ever Lose My Faith In You.”

Sting’s interest in working with orchestras began in 2008 when he was invited to perform with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. That concert, along with a performance with the Philadelphia Orchestra on the 153rd anniversary of the Academy Of Music inspired him to start planning his own symphonic excursions.

“Performing with both the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra was truly a highlight of my career,” Sting said. “I’m delighted by this new opportunity to tour with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and reinterpret the songs I’ve been playing for many years.”
