More Dates, More Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips pucker up and deliver the goods, listing tour dates ranging from next week to next August.

While a few dates had already been announced, like next week’s Austin and Denton, Texas, appearances March 12 and 13, this week’s update shows Oklahoma’s favorite psychedelic musicians playing several headline dates as well as making a few festival appearances.

Supporting their latest album – Embryonic – the schedule now shows The Lips playing Charlottesville, Va., at the Charlottesville Pavilion April 15; Poughkeepsie at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center April 17; Ithaca at Cornell University April 18; Montclair, N.J., at Wellmont Theatre April 19; Milwaukee at Riverside Theatre April 21 and Bonner Springs, Kansas, at Capitol Federal Park at Sandstone April 23.

Stardeath And White Dwarfs appear on most of the above dates.

Then there’s the festival additions, like in West Palm Beach April 20; the in Oxford, Miss., July 3; June 11 and in Crickhowell, U.K., August 21.

The band is also playing the Central Park Summerstage in NYC July 26.

Fans going to see the band at this year’s Bonnaroo will get an extra dose of Lips. In addition to performing a complete set, the band will play Pink Floyd’s epic journey through lunacy, otherwise known as Dark Side Of The Moon, from start to finish.

Of course, The Flaming Lips have been doing Dark Side… for some time now, having released their take on the classic album on iTunes in 2009. The physical version, meaning something you can touch, hold, feel, taste and smell, will be released as a limited-edition vinyl album on National Record Store Day April 17, and a CD version will go on sale May 4. Stardeath And The White Dwarfs, Henry Rollins and Peaches also appear on the album.

Along with announcing the new dates, the band also mentioned some new items in their merch store. However, we never mention merch until we’ve tested it first (hint, hint), so until that moment arrives, you’ll just have to check it out on your own by clicking here for The Flaming Lips Web site.
