Country Crossing Turned Down
A request by officials with the Country Crossing development in Dothan, Ala., to get back most of the $1.7 million in electronic bingo machine stamp fees the venue paid in December was turned down by the Houston County Commission March 1.
The development’s bingo hall was voluntarily shuttered Jan. 29 by the owners when the governor’s anti-gambling task force tried to raid the place.
Ronnie Gilley and partners are seeking a prorated refund of the taxes paid on machines they can’t use. The commission reportedly wants court approval before issuing any refund.
