Mark Linkous Of Sparklehorse Dies
Mark Linkous, the singer/songwriter who fueled the project Sparklehorse, has reportedly taken his own life.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member Mark Linkous took his own life today,” Linkous’ family said in a statement. “We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. There’s a heaven and there’s a star for you.”
The statement was issued to Rolling Stone March 6.
Linkous, who has collaborated with everyone from Tom Waits to Danger Mouse, had released four critically acclaimed records that have been classified as alt rock and alt country. A fifth album was said to be near completion on Anti-. Linkous was once considered dead for two minutes after ingesting a mixture of antidepressants and Valium, and suffered a heart attack while in the coma.
