Target Center Ad Clash

The Minnesota Timberwolves and the management of Target Center are battling over who controls advertising on one of the arena’s outside walls — one that faces the Minnesota Twins’ new Target Field.

Target Field opens this spring, and every time Twins fans look toward right field, they’ll see Target Center’s big wall in the background. That makes the wall prime billboard territory.

The Timberwolves and Target Center’s management company, AEG Management MN, each claims exclusive rights to sell ad space on the wall.

The Timberwolves say they’ll suffer financially if they don’t have new ads on the wall by the start of the Twins’ season. The Star Tribune reports the Wolves’ lawsuit is set for trial Monday in Hennepin County court.

A lawyer for AEG would not comment.
