Mo’Nique Goes Back To Her Roots
The comedian, author, BET network talk show host and now best supporting actress Oscar-winner will hit the road beginning March 19 at Kiefer UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans for the Spread the Love Tour.
Mo’Nique’s mission of mirth will make its way across the country through late May, stopping along the way in 20 venues that range in size from theatres to arenas.
Also along for the ride is fellow “Mo’Nique Show” comedian Rodney Perry, as well as resident “Man on the Street” Tone-X and DJ Ant.
Later this year, Mo’Nique will also make an appearance in the Showtime special “Shaquille O’Neal Presents: All-Star Comedy Jam.”
The comedian’s turn as the vicious Mary Jones in “Precious,” which garnered the first-time dramatic actress an astounding 19 trophies including a Golden Globe and an Independent Spirit Award, pretty much guarantees fans will see the former “Parkers” and “Phat Girlz” star on the big screen again at some point – possibly alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the film verson of J.Eric’s A Place in Heaven. But Mo’Nique said the stage will always feel like home.
“Stand-up is my first baby,” the comedian explained. “Like, I’ll be doing stand-up, sugar, when I’m like 97 years old. I hope to God I can still make it happen.”
