Scott “Scooter” Braun turned himself in to Nassau County authorities on New York’s Long Island today on charges of reckless endangerment and criminal nuisance.

The charges originated with an incident in November when a scheduled appearance by Bieber at a mall turned into an all-out riot. Several fans were injured and the vice president of the 16-year-old singer’s record label was arrested.

Police reportedly ordered Braun to send out a tweet canceling the appearance when things first began to turn ugly.

Braun’s lawyer claims he did so within seven minutes, but the Nassau County prosecutor alleges it took him an hour and a half to tweet twice. (Maybe the problem is simply that he’s like a lot of us folks over 30 – not too speedy with our texting fingers.)

The 28-year-old manager, who is expected to plead not guilty of the charges, could spend up to a year in prison if he’s convicted – of not tweeting.
