Williams appeared on CBS’ “The Late Show With David Letterman” earlier this week, and started riffing on Australia.

“Australians are basically English rednecks,” Williams said. “You down there, ‘how are ya? Good to see you. Hello,’” adding “I realized that if Darwin had landed in Australia, he would have gone: ‘I’m wrong.’”

Now Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is firing back.

“I think Robin Williams should go and spend a bit of time in Alabama before he frames comments about anyone being particularly redneck,” Rudd said on a Melbourne radio station this week, according to AFP.

At this time there is no word on whether Alabama is ticked at Rudd.
