Jane’s Addiction Shows Off New Lineup
Farrell celebrated his birthday in style with a little shindig at Les Deux nightclub in Los Angeles. A video posted to YouTube and fan site JanesAddiction.com shows Farrell providing the entertainment at his own party by performing a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.” The video, as well as a few pictures posted to the fan site, also includes Navarro and McKagan.
A representative for the band told Pollstar that it wasn’t an official Jane’s show but more of a short but sweet jam session.
Navarro and Farrell both posted a black and white shot to their Twitter accounts that featured the bassist and singer rocking out with McKagan and drummer Stephen Prekins.
Navarro’s Twitpic was captioned, “Another day of writing and creating in the studio with Jane’s Addiction” and Farrell’s photo caption simply said “First pics of JA writing sessions.”
The band is currently writing their next album as the follow-up to 2003’s Strays. The album is tentatively set for release in winter 2011 on Capitol. A worldwide concert tour is also in the works to go along with the new album.
Bassist Eric Avery officially parted ways with Jane’s Addiction in early March, announcing the big news hours after playing Soundwave Festival in Perth, Australia.
Avery played with the band from its formation in 1985 to its first break up in 1991. He then joined forces with Jane once again in 2008, marking the band’s first shows in five years and first gigs with the original lineup in 17 years. The bassist was replaced with a number of different players during previous reunion tours in 1997, 2001 and 2003.
